Ioannis Vatistas was one of the first to recognize the value of the Kydonitsa grape variety and approached it with seriousness and dedication. In 1986, he began working with the family vineyard in Agios Nikolaos, Monemvasia. Later, he expanded to other vineyards in Kambos and the slopes of Pantanassa. He started bottling his first wines in 1990 and has continued to experiment with the region’s grape varieties ever since. Kydonitsa is perhaps his favorite, as it has become the most recognizable and popular wine of the winery, beloved by the public for many years.
