Pastis 51 was named after the year 1951, when it was first released. Pernod created it to celebrate the lifting of laws that prohibited any drink with an alcohol content over 16% vol. Since its creation in 1951, it has stood out for its refreshingly modern expression of anise-based drinks. It is made from a blend of Chinese anise, aromatic Provençal herbs, fennel, oriental licorice, and corn. Double-distilled alcohol is used in its production.
