PAPARGYRIOU ASSYRTICO LE ROI DES MONTAGNES 14.5%VOL 750ml 6pcs

Sku: 38829
Weight 4.500kg

You can immediately tell that Yiannis Papargyriou wouldn’t let a wine join the Le Roi family unless it was at least on par with its two siblings. He experimented for quite some time. The year 2017 gave him exactly what he had been waiting for, and thus the wait for the white throne was over. It was almost inevitable that he would choose Assyrtiko, the king of Greek white varieties. An Assyrtiko, overripe as you might expect, was harvested as late as possible. It remained in a second-use 500-liter Seguin Moreau French barrel for 9 months, with regular batonnage, just as Yiannis likes it.

Organoleptic Characteristics:

The wine has a deep lemon color with golden highlights. Its nose is intense and complex, dominated by aromas of honey, orange peel, dried apricot, ripe peach, lemon, and bergamot. The barrel, though almost imperceptible, adds notes of vanilla and butter caramel, without overshadowing the rich fruit. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with noticeable tannins, medium body, and sharp acidity. The fruit is dense, juicy, and ripe, with orange, bitter orange, lemon spoon sweet, apricot, nectarine, and kumquat on a backdrop of honey, vanilla, and walnut spoon sweet. It has a strong sense of creaminess and a delightful long-lasting citrus finish.

Pairings:

It pairs beautifully with dishes like pork knuckle with beer and honey, duck with orange, stuffed turkey, or grouper fricassee with wild greens. Serve ideally at 12ºC.
