Mouchtaro is a rare red grape variety originating from Central Greece, and its existence is credited to Ktima Mouson from Askri, Thebes. The only single-varietal Mouchtaro wine in the world is fruity, soft, yet “serious” at the same time, proving that this variety has great potential and is expected to gain more attention in the future.
Organoleptic Characteristics:
The wine features a deep red-purple color with unique aromas of ripe fruits and an impressive bouquet. It is rich, distinctive, with well-crafted tannins due to its aging in oak barrels, characteristic acidity, and a long finish. A unique wine made exclusively from Mouchtaro, a variety that exists only in the Valley of the Muses.
Pairings:
It pairs perfectly with spaghetti with meat sauce, pastitsio, cannelloni, soutzoukakia, grilled pork, pork with prunes, lamb in all its variations, red fish like salmon or tuna, and fatty fish cooked with tomato. Serve at 16-18 °C.
