Luxardo Maraschino is one of the few Maraschino liqueurs available on the market and certainly the most popular worldwide. Marasca cherries are distilled and aged for 2 years in barrels from Finland, whose wood imparts no color to the contents. Then, the distillate is diluted with water, and sugar is added. The distinctive flavor and almond-like aroma come from the crushed cherry pits, with a touch of honey also added to the recipe. The liqueur has an intense yet refined aroma of nuts, fruit, and wood, with a smooth, slightly sweet taste and no harshness.
