Los Muertos Mezcal Artesanal is a brand-new creation made from 100% Espadín Agave in the village of San Juan del Rio, Oaxaca. The agaves are slowly cooked in a traditional underground oven (horno cónico bajo tierra) for several days, giving the mezcal its distinctive smoky character. Fermentation takes place in small, open pine vats and can last several weeks, depending on seasonal conditions. This traditional method of production imparts a unique and authentic flavor to the mezcal.
