La Trappe Quadrupel is an exceptional Trappist beer from the La Trappe family, brewed at the Koningshoeven Abbey in the Netherlands. It is one of the few Trappist beers produced outside of Belgium, with a history dating back to 1880. It is brewed under the strict supervision of monks, as required by the regulations governing Trappist beers.
First introduced in 1991, La Trappe Quadrupel was further developed in 2010 when it began aging in wooden barrels, adding a unique character to its profile. Best enjoyed at 10-14°C, this beer reveals its complex aromatic profile and rich flavor.
It starts with a beautiful amber hue and a well-formed head, while its aromas feature ripe and dark fruits, spices, cumin, vanilla, and burnt sugar. The taste is rich, offering notes of citrus, herbs, spices, and caramel, with a creamy texture. Its pleasantly bittersweet character is primarily attributed to its aging in wooden barrels, making it a truly unique tasting experience.
