The man behind this wine is Terry Peabody, who, along with his wife Mary, decided in 1993 to create a family legacy to pass on to future generations. Terry didn’t just want to buy vineyards, but to cultivate his own from bare land, ensuring top quality from the vineyard to the winemaking process. Initially searching in the U.S. and France, fate led him to New Zealand, the land of mountains, fire, and ice! The winery was established in 1998 at the foot of the impressive Te Mata Peak in Martinborough, within the renowned Hawke’s Bay wine region. In this area, the gravelly, volcanic, and clay soils have imparted their signature touch to this wine.
For the Sauvignon Blanc Te Muna – Craggy Range, 10% of the grapes were fermented using the whole-bunch method, contributing to its distinctive character. Fermentation took place with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and French barriques (only 3% new). The wine aged for 3 months, gaining its elegant texture and explosive aromas.
