In addition to producing tequila exclusively from blue agave, Clase Azul tells the rich history of Mexican culture through its mezcal production. This spirit is crafted in states like San Luis Potosí, Guerrero, and Durango, where green agave is cultivated under various climatic conditions, imparting unique characteristics to each mezcal, influenced by the climate, altitude, and local culture.
Mezcal differs from tequila both in its raw material and cooking method. While tequila is made from blue agave and cooked in ovens, mezcal is crafted from various agave species roasted in underground pits, giving it its characteristic smoky and earthy flavor.
Clase Azul Mezcal Durango is made from cenizo agave, which grows in northern Mexico, where extreme climatic conditions and drought intensify the plant’s characteristics. The piñas are roasted over firewood and volcanic rocks, enhancing mezcal’s aromas. The bottle, with a cap adorned with handcrafted beads depicting the circle of transformation, embodies the connection between nature and the human hand.
In the glass, Clase Azul Mezcal Durango appears crystal-clear with straw hues and offers rich aromas of orange, lemon, lime, and grapefruit, enriched with notes of thyme, elderflower, smoke, and clove. On the palate, it has a full body with distinct herbal notes and flavors of chocolate, wood, smoke, and quince, creating a multi-layered flavor profile with a bold and delightful finish.
