Citadelle Gin was created when Alexander Gabriel, owner of Cognac Ferrand, requested permission from the cognac board to use their stills for gin production. This request was made because the AOC regulations allow cognac production only 6 months a year, leaving the workers without employment for the remaining 6 months.
