Chimay Red (Premier) belongs to the renowned and historic family of Chimay beers, produced by monks at the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Scourmont in Belgium. Like all Trappist beers, Chimay is brewed under the strict supervision of the monks within the abbey, following the tradition and regulations that ensure the authenticity of Trappist beers.
Chimay Red, the brewery’s first beer, was created in 1862 and revived after World War II by Monk Théodore in 1948, who based it on the original brewery recipe. In the same year, Chimay Blue was released as a Christmas beer, and Chimay White followed in 1966, completing the range.
Chimay Red stands out for its attractive copper-red color and strong aromatic presence of apricot and fruity notes. The taste experience features red fruits, caramel, coffee, and spicy undertones, while its creamy foam adds a luxurious touch to the enjoyment. Ideally, it is served at 10-12°C to fully reveal its aromas and flavors.
