An alcoholic bitter aperitif, made from the infusion of bitter herbs, aromatic plants, and fruits in a mixture of water and alcohol. It has an intense aroma and a deep ruby-red color.
It is typically served as an aperitif, with some ice and cold Seltz, in a glass that has been chilled in the freezer. It is also used as a key ingredient in various cocktails and long drinks, such as the Americano, Negroni, Milano-Torino, Garibaldi, Negroni Sbagliato, and Boulevardier.
Serve between 4-6 °C.
