Our story began when Panagiotis Balaskas opened the first grocery store in Petralona. His son, Stefanos Balaskas, took over and expanded the family business, creating the first delicatessen stores. Today, the third generation of the family continues this legacy with the same passion, honoring the values that set us apart.

Istion Yachting, founded in 1992 by Ioannis Kourounis in Kos, ushered in a new era for maritime tourism in the Dodecanese. With a focus on high-quality services and fleet excellence, the company helped establish the region as a premier sailing destination in Greece.

Between 1992 and 2007, Istion experienced impressive growth, driven by customer care, enhancing its reputation, and attracting new partnerships and visitors. In 2007, it relocated its headquarters to Athens, assembling a multidisciplinary team of professionals and focusing on:

• Building partnerships with top organizations and shipyards.
• Expanding destinations, both new and well-known.
• Continuously improving services, setting industry standards.
• Strengthening trust with partners and customers.

In 2024, Istion maintains its leadership with a new privately-owned building in Athens, while expanding its team and developing innovative products and platforms, including a new online booking platform. A milestone achievement is its new base in Croatia, at the ACI Marina Skradin, underscoring the company’s commitment to long-term relationships with local communities.

A standout event by Istion is the Catamarans Cup, launched in 2010. This international regatta for cruising catamarans takes place every October, blending the excitement of racing with a relaxing holiday week in the Greek islands. The Catamarans Cup attracts participants from over 18 countries, offering a unique sailing experience for all, regardless of skill level.
